Today, my friend and I visited this restaurant. We ordered a lot of dishes to try, and we liked everything. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the salmon and avocado cones and the pork belly. The service was okay—not particularly friendly, just normal. Will we come back to this place? I think so. It’s a decent option in the city center.

Shoku Izakaya in Banff is a great Japanese bistro restaurant serving fresh and flavorful food. I enjoyed the food so much that I went there for dinner 2 nights in a row. The salmon oyako bowl is amazing!!! This was a daily/weekly special and I really hope they add this to the regular menu. The ikura (salmon roe eggs) were fresh, the salmon was nice and light and overall it was yummy. I also had some raw oysters which were also fresh and delicious. I was worried about raw seafood in a mountain town, but the oysters were great. I also tried the skewers and they were small but tasty. The agaedashi tofu and seaweed salad were average.

Quality and Quantity!!! The spicy tuna roll and the negitoro roll was stuffed with tuna! The grill salmon belly was flaky with the perfect fat. The pepper was a fun game of which one is going to be spicy and the seafood salad taste as good as it looks! Definitely a sushi place I will come back to when I am in Banff!!!

We got the daily special - salmon collar, chirashi, yakitori and the shoku salad. Everything was really fresh and delicious and worked well together! Salmon collar was grilled really well - it was flaky, tender, fatty, with crispy skin. It went well with the ponzu! The rice was a tad dry but that could be my preference. Chirashi was much bigger than we expected and the fish was very fresh. You got 2-3 pieces of fish and it was filling. The salmon belly, hamachi, scallop, negitoro were really yummy! Yakitori meat was grilled well and the meat was tender and so juicy! The juices exploded when I took a bite lol. But something about the sauce was a tad overpowering for me. Shoku salad was more to balance our meal out. It wasn’t anything special and def pricey at 18 for no protein, but the dressing was light and refreshing. Veggies were very fresh! Overall a really good meal at shoku. We’ll be back :)

Very Authentic! So far the best ramen that I've had in AB! My wife and I came here when I celebrated my Birthday and we were so amazed with how delicious their food is. Feels like eating back in Asia. If you need to warm up your belly with a delicious Ramen soup, This is Highly Recommended!

Fantastic place with great service and mouthwatering food! We ordered Shoku Bibimbap, chirashi sushi bowl, cheesy chikuwa isobeage, and pork belly bao band. The chikuwa isobeage were my favorite - they were melting in my mouth! The bibimbap was also very tasty especially the meat. The fish in chirashi bowl was also fresh and tasteful

This would be my #2 ramen place in Banff. The Daily Ramen and Chicken Takitori are a must try. #1 for me is still Ramen Arashi, but if you don’t have time to wait, this is a great place too with more options.
